My First 5K

That’s right… I’m running my first 5K. VERY surprisingly, I’ve run a 10K with my husband. What makes it so surprising is that (1) I’ve always hated running and (2) I don’t like to sweat. I never in my life thought I could even run a 1/2 mile. It’s true what they say. You can definitely build up to it. But, when you have a husband who loves to run, you can easily run longer than you intend. And, that’s what happens to me, especially if we’re running outside.

B: “We’ll go up to the baseball field and back.”
Me: “Okay, that sounds good.”

Then, we get to the baseball field…

B: “Let’s go through this neighborhood, and we’ll wrap around.”
Me: “Are you serious?”
B: “Yeah, you can do it. After we get through the neighborhood, it’s all downhill.”
Me (a little grumpy): “O–kay.”

We go through the neighborhood, which actually ends up being two neighborhoods, AND it’s not all downhill. We’re going uphill a lot of the time. Is there something not right about this scenario?

Well, I actually started to enjoy running. It’s still a shock that me, of all people, would say that, but I do. I’ve now run a 10K a handful of times. I wouldn’t say running that long of a distance is my favorite thing to do, but I love being able to run 2-3 miles with my husband.

So, randomly on New Year’s Eve, my girlfriends and I decided to run a 5K at the Cherry Creek Sneak together. (And, it had nothing to do with resolutions or champagne!) I know it’s not close to a marathon, but for our first, we’re excited about it!

*Likey my picture (that I took with my phone)? It’s my hubby working out… Makes my heart flutter! I know it doesn’t have anything to do with the post, but at this moment, there’s no way I’m putting a picture of me sweating on this blog. He doesn’t know I posted this pic, so let’s see how long it takes for him to make me switch it out!
