Caleb, our oldest, turned 9 today. It’s really hard for me to believe that my first baby has grown up this much… I get teary-eyed just thinking about all of the memories of him as a baby to now. It just goes by way too fast. One thing you should know about Caleb is that he LOVES his dad… Wants to be just like him. He considers him to be one of his best friends. (How sweet is that?) They make a great team whether it’s getting something done around here or… teasing me when I get sentimental.

I asked him recently what he wanted for his birthday.

Caleb: I want a nerf football and a book.
Me: That’s it???!!
Caleb: Yeah, that’s it.
Me: You can’t think of anything else?!
Caleb: No, I don’t think so. That’s all I want.

I love that about him, not that he doesn’t want gifts but that he’s so simple. I love that he gets excited about a new book. I love that he is content in life.

Caleb is one special kid…

He has a soft heart.
He loves to laugh.
He’s a great friend and the best big brother ever.
He loves to read… LOVES it. (He read two 200 page books last weekend.)
He’s a great dancer and getting pretty darn good at the robot!
He’s not afraid to say sorry.
He’s a brain. He is seriously smart. (He’s smarter than me… I’m not joking.)
He tells awesome jokes.
He’s an excellent public speaker.
He has a thankful heart.
He’s full of life.

Not only that, he’s one good looking kid. :) He’s everything I could ever want in a son.
