I don’t know about you, but I think garlic makes most everything taste better! That’s definitely the case with my current recipe. Today, I’m going to show you how to make Garlic Parmesan Toast.

What you need:
Italian or French bread (Have the deli slice the loaf for you.)
1 stick unsalted butter, room temperature
2 scant tbsp minced garlic
1/4 heaping tsp salt
2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley

Preheat the oven to 350.

My butter wasn’t room temperature, so I stuck it in the microwave for a few seconds… too long. No big deal. It was softer than I prefer, but it still worked great. (Make sure you are using unsalted butter.) Using a fork, mash the butter and mix until creamy. Take a small handful of parsley,

chop up the parsley leaves. You don’t have to pick off the leaves. Just chop up whatever stems are leftover with the leaves.

chopped parsley

Add about 2 tbsp chopped parsley, 2 scant tbsp minced garlic, and 1/4 heaping teaspoon of salt to the butter. Mix together thoroughly.

garlic butter

Spread the garlic butter on the tops of each slice of bread, and place on a baking sheet.

Top each slice with parmesan cheese. I used a three cheese blend from Kraft this time around (because it was on sale for $2).

It’s starting look delish!

Place it in the oven for about 5 minutes. Then, change the setting to low broil. Listen up: Whatever you do, don’t walk away!!! If you do, the bread will probably burn. Watch it carefully. It’s ready when the cheese starts to bubble and turns light golden brown.

For an appetizer, you can serve it alone or with marinara sauce. It’s also great with dip. Or, you can just serve it with dinner. So, versatile, isn’t it? If you want to make garlic bread, slice a loaf of French/Italian bread or baguette horizontally, and spread the garlic butter liberally on the insides. The cheese is optional. Place it in the oven with the cut sides up.

You know what else is delicious? Garlic butter with shredded parmesan cheese on ciabatta bread. You can’t go wrong with this one… It’s fabulous!

Enjoy!!
